# My First Novel is out now: Drei Damen im Strandbad

My first novel is finished. It's called Drei Damen im Strandbad: Ein Sommer-Krimi, and it's written in German. The setting is a lakeside pool in Switzerland's Rhine Valley, the kind of place with the same handful of regulars every summer, folding chairs, a thermos of coffee, and a dice cup on the table.

The book follows three women, Vreni, Margrit and Rosi, who have shared the same spot at that pool for sixteen summers. One morning the innkeeper who runs the place is found dead in the natural swimming basin. The police call it an accident, then change their minds and call it murder, and settle on a suspect mostly because it's convenient. The three women don't buy it and start looking into it themselves, going door to door, reading through old council records, and generally getting further than the local police manage to.

If you don't read German, here's the short version: it's a cozy mystery with a lot of local color. Village gossip, club meetings, a running joke about a turnstile that's miscounted visitors for thirty years, that sort of thing. It's meant to be funny and warm rather than dark.

Some basics if you're curious: it's 333 pages in print, came out on July 28, and it's available on Kindle, including Kindle Unlimited. You can find it here: [Drei Damen im Strandbad](https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0HBZ1J3KH).

This is my first published book, so I don't have an existing readership to fall back on. If you speak German, or know somebody who reads cozy mysteries and happens to, I'd genuinely appreciate a look. And if you read it and enjoy it, a short review on Amazon helps more than you'd think at this stage. It's brand new, there aren't many reviews yet, and each one makes a real difference for whether other readers decide to give it a chance.

That's it for now. If people are interested, I might write more here about the process of getting a first book out on KDP, from setting the categories and keywords to figuring out advertising, since that's been its own project alongside the writing itself.
